About Me
Hello, and welcome! I’m Dr. Melyssa Mandelbaum, a dedicated and compassionate licensed clinical psychologist driven by a deep commitment to empowering individuals and families in their journey toward healing and transformation. My work is fueled by a genuine passion for helping you navigate life’s toughest challenges with strength, resilience, and clarity. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I create a comfortable, collaborative partnership with you to address your struggles and unlock lasting change.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Barnard College at Columbia University, then earned my doctorate at Long Island University, where I honed my skills as a clinician. My extensive training includes clinical rotations at renowned institutions such as New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center and the NYU Child Study Center, where I worked intensively with individuals across diverse populations. I completed my predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants (CBC), where I continued as a Staff Psychologist. At CBC I honed my expertise in CBT and specialized in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In addition, I earned certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy specifically adapted for children with selective mutism (PCIT-SM).
I understand that life’s complexities can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to seek help. My approach is rooted in empathy and respect, as I create a nonjudgmental, safe space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we will identify the patterns that have been holding you back, and I’ll guide you with evidence-based tools to create meaningful change.
Above all, I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Trust, collaboration, and respect are central to my work, and I am committed to walking alongside you as you take each step toward growth and healing. Whether you're grappling with anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, parenting difficulties, or simply looking to improve your overall mental health, I am here to help you navigate your path with insight, compassion, and expertise. It’s never too late to start your journey toward a more peaceful, confident, and fulfilled life.
If you’re ready to make positive changes in your life, I’d be honored to support you on your journey. Let’s work together to unlock the path to a more peaceful, empowered you.
